This Liquefaction phenomenon was first reported to happen in the parking lot of Tokyo Disneyland after Japan’s Earthquake and Tsunami.

Meaning of Liquefaction

In geology, liquefaction refers to the process by which saturated, unconsolidated sediments are transformed into a substance that acts like a liquid.

Earthquakes can cause liquefaction where loosely packed, water-logged sediments come loose from the intense shaking of the earthquake.

Soil liquefaction

Soil liquefaction describes a phenomenon whereby a saturated soil substantially loses strength and stiffness in response to an applied stress, usually earthquake shaking or other sudden change in stress condition, causing it to behave like a liquid.

It was a nice day to be with your family in some beach of Finland, that until a group of clouds arrived in an unusual and aggressive way. What a sudden storm. All started with a scream an the everybody was running for their lives. These clouds look like they are out of a scene from The Fog.

The Rainbow Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus deglupta) or Mindanao Gum is the only species of Eucalyptus tree found in the northern hemisphere. As if that weren’t extraordinary enough, the up to 70 meters tall tree also shines in the colors of the rainbow, its bark can take on a yellow, green, orange and even purple shading.

If you want to spot a Rainbow Eucalyptus tree live and in all its glory, you’ll have to travel to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea or the Philippines, the tree’s only native places. However, it has been introduced worldwide as an exotic wood in South America, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, China and other countries.

These white porcelain sculptures show how man has an influence over the deaths of animals and plants.

This collection was created by American artist Kate Macdowell, who presents dead and decaying animals with anthropomorphic features, blurring the difference between man and nature in a state of destruction. Her choice to craft the pieces from porcelain helps adds a sense of fragility to the subjects.
