Actor Chris Evans was filming the new Marvel movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. His character, Steve Rogers is chasing a car (taxi cab) just running by foot. Chris looks with a lot of muscles, he is in good shape to portray Captain America, the hero that will be the leader of the Avengers. So the first hour and half of this film is about Steve Rogers living a pre WWII life.

Filming of Captain America, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) runs out of the antique shop and shoots at a fleeing car in the distance. A parked car explodes behind her.
Walk-through of the Captain America set in Manchester’s Northern Quarter (Dale Street and the surrounding streets), and was filmed at 3:37pm on Tuesday 21st September 2010. a lot of antiques can be seen.
This should appeal to lovers of vintage 1940s cars as there were at least 20 on the set.
During the last week of September there’s a film shoot going on on Dale Street, Manchester. The scene being shot is a car chase and explosion set in 1940’s New York City. There will be 60 action cars for the shoot.
The film stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving (Red Skull), Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Sebastian Stan (James Bucky Barnes) and Samuel L. Jackson.
The workers are building the set, removing several modern signs and giving some final touches before shooting.
