Movie Even the Rain (with Gael García Bernal) and the Bolivian Water War
Directed by and Written by Paul Laverty, Even the Rain (También La Lluvia in Spanish) tells the story of Sebastian (Gael García Bernal) and Costa (Luis Tosar), a director and producer who are determined to make a film and upturn the entire conservative myth of Western Civilization’s arrival in the Americas as a force for good. Rather, their story is about what the Colonizer Christopher Columbus set in motion; the obsession with gold and the hunt for slaves. As the shoot progresses in and around the city of Cochabamba so too does civil and political unrest simmer below the surface as the entire water supply of the city is privatized and sold to a British and American multinational until the entire city explodes into the now infamous Bolivian Water War.
Cast: Gael García Bernal (Sebastián), Luis Tosar (Costa), Najwa Nimri (Isabel La Católica), Emma Suárez, Karra Elejalde, Raúl Arévalo, Carlos Santos, Carlos Aduviri (Daniel), and Dani Currás.
