Super 8 page: decoded

Date: May / 07 / 2010 + Comments: 7

After watching the teaser trailer of Super 8, the new film of J.J. Abrams, this will be the beginning of several webpages and hidden codes, like the viral marketing developed for Cloverfield.

Our first clue is what it seems to be an official webpage:, where we just see a swf file showing the lens of a video camera:

Super 8 webpage
If we watch it in more detail, some red letters are showed in the middle of the camera lens. It has a video in a loop. Using a Flash decompiler software I was able to take screenshots of every frame, and the resulting phrase is:

Super 8 swf code

Not to much for a clue, but at least it is obvious what it says:

This is just a clarification that Super 8 stands for the video format from the 70s:

super 8 Kodak cartridge
super 8 Kodak camera

Is there anyway to do the same thing with the leaked youtube trailer? At the end when it is another closeup of the lens, for about 3 seconds numerous letters scroll in the lens, and I cant make out what all of them are.

Sorry I don’t mean to be picky, but its Super 8 film (yes actual real film), not a “video format” as such. Wonderful stuff.
