Carl Macek, Robotech’s creator, passed away of a heart attack

Carl F. Macek (October 12, 1951 – April 17, 2010) passed away on Saturday of a heart attack, he was 58 years old. Carl Macek came to public attention in 1985 as the producer and story editor of the influential animated television series Robotech, which he produced for Harmony Gold USA. Robotech is considered one of the titles most responsible for igniting anime fandom in North America and internationally.

Robotech Carl was also directly involved in the first English adaptations of many of Hayao Miyazake’s classics such as Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro, and My Neighbor Totoro. Recently he was working in Bleach.

Carl has left us much to remember him by, and in this way, he has truly become immortal.
